It's time to get ready for
Home for the HOWLidays 2007!

Home for the HOWLidays
What are you doing on Christmas Day this year?

Join Yvonne, left, our talented and passionate volunteer who is coordinating this awesome event! She can help YOU create this unique event in your state, too! Start here, whether in Washington State or places beyond! There are animals in need everywhere who need YOUR help!

OUT-OF-STATE INCENTIVE: if you distribute at least 12 dog/cat houses in December, we'll reward the team leader with a famous PasadoRescue t-shirt!)

Imagine getting up early on Christmas Day (forget those football games, this is a MUCH better way to spend your day!)

Grab some hot cider...
And get a few of your best animal-loving friends together...

...load up your SUV's and vans with dog houses...

...beds, food and flea treatment...

and head out to find dogs and cats who suffer in the cold.

You meet their owners, make friends with them, offer their pet a house, a bed, toys, and some food - and flea treatment, bringing needed relief from these parasites.

That's Yvonne, left, who'll help you bring comfort to so many animals who need you, your time, your passion! What better way to spend this holiday!?

Here's a "tease" of what happened last Christmas Day"...and to get you inspired to help this year!

"We hit pay dirt," one volunteer said. The local police of a tiny mountain town directed the group to an area of shanties that grew out of the banks of a rapidly-flowing river. "Be careful. Don't send just women down there. There are a lot of meth labs," the police officer told our Team Leader. So together, as a group, they traveled back roads, all unmarked dirt lanes, until they were under a thick, wet cedar forest, on the banks of the river.

"We got out of our cars and trucks and started saying "Is anyone home? We've got goodies for your pets!'," one of the volunteers recalls. "People began coming out of old, rusty buses they called home. Old trailers, cars - and they were thrilled. They couldn't have been more grateful, or happy."

Volunteers began meeting people they would never have meet, probably, in their entire lives. "You could tell some people were anxious," recalled Mark, Pasado's Co-Founder who accompanied the North team. "They were faced with how the 'other half' lives - and they had no idea. But as soon as they all met, they found there was a common bond of loving animals. It was amazing to see how everyone became friends almost immediately, hugging, laughing. It was so great."

It was nothing like the police had told them. No one felt threatened. And all of the pet owners were genuinely moved by what volunteers had come to do - to help their beloved. pets.

One dog, particular, stole their hearts.

She'd lived on a chain, although it was apparent her guardian loved her. She had just given birth to a litter of puppies. Volunteers gave her a new dog house, a new bed, and flea treatment, one of the most important gifts we bring to these animals who have so little. In the cold, fleas can cause anemia, and take the life of the less resilient, ill, or old animals.

Even though we gave Mama Dog new everything - toys, treats, food - her best gift will be the spay that Pasado's Safe Haven will provide for free after New Year's. This litter, would be her last.

Left, Debbie W. and her husband Rick and Claire A. and her husband were two of many couple who used Christmas Day to help needy animals. How can we thank people like them? No words can express what heart these people have.

Making friends with people who have little to give their pets enables us to come back and provide pet sterilization (like we will for this litter, as well). And it also provides us insight into how to help pets of the needy.

Although The Spay Station, our big rig mobile pet sterilization, comes to a community near to where we found Mama Dog and her litter, we learned something new from Mama's guardian, and her neighbors. All of them asked if we could provide muzzles, in addition to the houses, beds, and food. Why? We asked. Actually thinking the worst. It was because they'd all wanted to bring their animals to be spayed and neutered on-board The Spay Station, but because they didn't have transportation, they relied on bus service. And the community bus system will allow dogs on-board only if muzzled. Had we only known.

Is this my NEW WARM HOUSE?!?!?!

One woman e-mailed Pasado's Safe Haven this week and commented that it was hardly uplifting to learn of these animals, living in such sad conditions, only to leave them there. In many ways, we couldn't agree more with her. But the fact remains, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of animals live in less-than-ideal conditions in the U.S. And despite the fact that they're not housed or cared for as we would like them to be, we cannot look away and do nothing.

We thank every person who took their holiday to improve the lives of so many dogs and cats. To Oasis Facilities Management for loaning us the trucks to deliver everything.

After last Christmas Day, dogs and cats were warm, well fed, had their first toy to lay beside - and will not feel the bites of parasites. And those who needed further veterinary care or sterilization, got it.

Now, we need YOUR help for THIS year!
Are you 'up' for a feel-good Christmas Day of your life?!

E-mail Yvonne and help her make this season truly a good one for so many animals who need you!

Before Christmas:

  • Set up collection bins in stores, churches, or other venues to collect needed items.
  • Monitor collection sites; collect goods when full and store merchandise temporarily until
  • Helping organize and categorize collected goods before day of delivery
  • Find those areas that are in need most. This takes time. Ask police, animal control, social services offices - people want to help!
Organize who has a van or truck to help deliver on Christmas Day
  • Load the goods into the trucks a few days before Christmas
  • Create maps and pre-plan exactly where each team will go

Doggie Daycare Arts & Crafts

This last Christmas season our customers and staff rocked! We did a food drive for Pasado's that went out on Christmas day to give to the homeless and under privileged animals.  We made two deliveries to Pasado's with our truck jammed full of food, toys, beds, treats, flea treatment, cat litter, coats, brushes, ect. It was a great turn out.

We want to thank Don from Breeders Choice( the fine folks who make Pinnacle & Avo Derm) who donated 2 pallet of food.

Dan from Canidae who also donated 1 pallet of Canidae.

And Steve from Natural Balance who donated as well.

To keep the spirit going all year long we have a food bin for Pasado's and we will give you 10% off any purchases you make and donate to Pasado's.

Pasado's called and we answered

Rosie was found wandering tired , hungry, and scared.

Pasado's came to the rescue as always and Rosie was saved. But ooooh how she needed a good bubble bath and that's where we stepped in. Rosie walked into the shop and we knew she had not been bathed in years. So Maya, our manager, went to work and four hours later Rosie walked out a happy woman, pretty as could be. She is now safe at Pasado's hoping for a forever home. We love these happy endings.
